Cornell Town-Gown Awards Spotlight Affordable Housing Collaboration
INHS was recognized as a key community partner of the Community Housing Development Fund (CHDF) at Cornell University’s 16th Annual Town-Gown Awards on December 6 at Cinemapolis.
The CHDF—a collaboration among Tompkins County, the City of Ithaca, and Cornell—has invested nearly $8.5 million in affordable housing since its creation in 2009. This partnership has supported the development of more than 1,030 affordable housing units in the greater Ithaca area.
The fund helps communities and housing developers create sustainable, affordable homes by supporting both new construction and rehabilitation projects.
Also honored at the ceremony was the Child Care Growth Initiative, which works to expand the supply and capacity of local child care providers.
“By honoring the Community Housing Development Fund and Child Care Growth Initiative, we are highlighting partnerships that show real outcomes from a shared investment of time, expertise and financial resources,” said Jennifer Tavares, director of the Office of Community Relations.
Since 2009, INHS has received $1.27 million to complete nearly 400 rental units and $2.2 million to develop 67 for-sale homes through the INHS Community Housing Trust with three additional projects in predevelopment!
