Org Achieves ‘Age-Friendly Business’ Designation
INHS is thrilled to share that we are now an Age-Friendly Certified business. This new initiative of the Tompkins County Office for the Aging (COFA) recognizes and celebrates local businesses and organizations that have taken intentional steps to ensure their services, facilities, and policies create an inclusive experience for clients and employees of all ages.
Areas of evaluation for certification include physical design, service practices, communication materials, employee roles, and everyday client experiences. At INHS, these include physically inclusive and accessible housing, client, and employee spaces; access to public transportation; staff training in violence and abuse prevention; accommodations for children; and accessible communication.
While INHS scored well above the minimum for certification, we are undertaking efforts to improve as well. For example, according to digital accessibility compliance tool UserWay, INHS’s website is 87 percent accessible at this time, and we continue to review for areas for improvement.
Through this initiative, COFA seeks to make Tompkins County a stronger, more age-friendly community. As one of the first ten local businesses and organizations to be certified, INHS is proud to join its peers in Tompkins County in enhancing accessibility and services for everyone in our community.
