Celebrating Neighborhoods, Empowering Neighbors

Posted Jun 4, 2024

INHS is a proud chartered member of NeighborWorks America, a national nonprofit organization established by Congress 45 years ago to strengthen communities all across the country. During the week of June 1-8, INHS joined over 240 member organizations to celebrate NeighborWorks Week, designed to recognize the successes of communities and how NeighborWorks and residents work together to empower people to enhance their lives.

Feeling empowered enables people to help meet challenges and achieve community goals. Thanks to NeighborWorks America and its network, it yielded a direct investment of $10.8 billion in communities across the country; and provided 428,201 total housing and counseling services; created 16,269 new homeowners, owned and/or managed 204,563 rental homes, and more.

INHS is proud to have been a part of that impact by helping over 2,690 people access safe, affordable housing in 2023 and investing over $40 million into our communities! This was accomplished through apartment rentals, rental financial assistance, down payment and closing cost assistance, homebuyer education, small repairs, and rehabilitation assistance!

“It just felt good that somebody cared enough to have these programs to help folks like us,” said INHS Minor Repair clients, Donna and Mason about the work we do.

INHS celebrated NeighborWorks’ 45th anniversary milestone by inviting its residents at its newest development, Founders Way, neighbors and community members for an Ice Cream Social event. The day was filled with gratitude and a lot of, you guessed it, ice cream!

That’s how we’re working to empower communities for success together, every day.
