Story 8: First Venture into Real Estate Development

Posted Mar 17, 2026

Cedar Creek, completed in 2010, was INHS’s very first community real estate development. The complex includes 39 energy-efficient and affordable rental units and a community building spread across seven structures and was designed to serve a mixture of family types. 44% of the units have three bedrooms, 32% have two bedrooms, and 18% have one bedroom. Additionally, six of the 39 units are set aside for individuals who have been victims of domestic violence.

Built on the side of a hill overlooking the Cayuga Lake Inlet, Cedar Creek provides residents with incredible views of Cornell University, Ithaca College, and the city’s skyline. The development is also on the TCAT bus route and is located close to downtown Ithaca and human and health services.

“Over the years, my apartment has become a sanctuary for me and I’m happy to call it my home,” Cedar Creek resident Robert shares. “I’ve never thought of leaving INHS.”  Robert, who has lived in his unit for over 15 years, making him the longest-residing resident to date in the development, has been more than satisfied with the landlords and features of the place he calls home. “It’s been a first-class experience all the way,” he adds.
