Neighborhood Blitz Helps Seven Homeowners with Repairs
INHS teamed with Nate’s Floral Estates, a mobile home community in the City of Ithaca, during the week of June 7 to provide free health and safety repairs to homes as part of its Neighborhood Blitz initiative.
Today’s event has been sponsored in part by NeighborWorks America, which is currently celebrating NeighborWorks Week to highlight the network of organizations across the country who are building strong community together every day. Thank you to NeighborWorks America.
The Construction Services Department’s Home Repair Specialists helped seven households in total with countless repairs, including installation of smoke and carbon dioxide detectors, shower heads and grab bars, new bathroom faucet; repaired a sliding door; and replaced bathroom sinks and toilets. The program helped to generate eight additional repair jobs in Nate’s Floral Estates over the next month.
Client Donna McLaughlin said of her experience, “Gentlemen were very professional, and worked all of the time they were here! They did great cleaning up after themselves, and everything looks wonderful. Thank you for everything.”
This is the second Neighborhood Blitz INHS has put together since 2019, the first was focused on the Southside Neighborhood in Ithaca. The initiative is part of INHS’s Minor Repair Program that is designed to provide free minor home repairs to homeowners 60 years and older and those with disabilities throughout Tompkins County.
The week-long event was sponsored in part by NeighborWorks America, which was celebrating NeighborWorks Week June 5-12 to highlight the network of organizations across the country who are building strong community together every day.
INHS has been a member of NeighborWorks America since the very beginning – working to enable every community to be a place of opportunity for its residents.
