Annual Meeting
Out of an abundance of caution as a result of COVID-19 and because INHS serves an aging population, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our 2020 Annual Meeting.
We know that many look forward to this lively annual celebration. We look forward to celebrating with you through song and dance in 2021!
We will be releasing our interactive 2019 Annual Report on our website this May. We cannot wait to share it with you!
If you have already registered for the meeting and you would like to request a refund of your optional donation, you can do so by emailing Kayla at kwingert@ithacanhs.org.
If you do not request a refund, we will reallocate your donation to our No Place Like Home Fund which supports low-income aging adults in maintaining the health and safety of their homes.
Thanks for your understanding and for your support of INHS.
Award Nominations
Nominations for the Lucy J. Brown Leadership and Florence Hoard Community Beautification Awards will be considered next year.
Thank you to those of you who submitted nominations for the Lucy J. Brown Leadership and Florence Hoard Community Beautification awards. Your nominations will be reviewed and considered for next year’s annual meeting and awards presentation.
Lucy J. Brown Leadership Award
This award is named in honor of Lucy Brown who has made significant and lasting contributions to both INHS and the greater community through her leadership and service. As one of the founders of INHS, Lucy was instrumental in its long-term growth and its commitment to mission. Lucy served continuously on the Board of Directors from 1976 through 2017. She has been a strong advocate for neighborhood residents and has made sure that resident issues are central in all decision-making. Each Spring, INHS awards the Lucy J. Brown Leadership Award to a member or members of the INHS service area (Cayuga, Chemung, Cortland, Schuyler, Seneca, Tioga, and Tompkins Counties) who, like Lucy, exemplify a similar commitment to community and neighborhood, as a voice and advocate for those who have typically been under-represented, and whose efforts have made a difference in the lives of many.
Florence Hoard Community Beautification Award
The award is named in honor of a revered member of the Ithaca Garden Club who was a symbol of, and voice for, beautification in her community. Noted for her efforts during the City’s centennial celebration, Florence Hoard organized to get shoots from area gardens into the yards of downtown residents and was a founder of the popular Mother’s Day Plant Exchange, which is held each year at Ithaca High School. Each Spring, a member of the INHS service area (Cayuga, Chemung, Cortland, Schuyler, Seneca, Tioga, and Tompkins Counties) is recognized through this award for their notable contributions to community beautification.
