Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation Awards $10,000 to Expand Minor Repair Program in Tioga County

Posted Feb 9, 2026

INHS is pleased to announce it has received a $10,000 grant from the Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation to support the organization’s Minor Repair Program in Tioga County. The funding will help provide essential home repairs to low-income homeowners aged 60 and above and individuals with disabilities.

The INHS Minor Repair Program offers free repairs and accessibility improvements to eligible residents, helping them address health and safety concerns, maintain their homes, and continue living independently. Services may include repairs to steps, railings, flooring, doors, windows, and other critical household components that improve safety and quality of life.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation for its generous support,” said Kate de la Garza, Executive Director of INHS. “Many seniors and individuals with disabilities face financial barriers when unexpected home repairs arise. This grant will allow us to assist more Tioga County residents with the repairs they need to remain safe, comfortable, and secure in their homes.”

For many low-income households, even minor repairs can become significant challenges that threaten housing stability. By addressing these issues early, the INHS Minor Repair Program helps preserve affordable housing, prevents further deterioration of homes, and supports residents in maintaining their independence.

The grant funding will enable INHS to expand its reach throughout Tioga County and provide critical assistance to homeowners and homebuyers who might otherwise be unable to afford necessary repairs. The Minor Repair Program began operating in Tioga County in 2024, completing 36 jobs that year.
