Protect Your Assets! Learn the Basics of Estate Planning
You’ve purchased your first home — congratulations! Once the boxes are unpacked and the family photos hung, it’s time to learn the next steps to maintain and protect your asset.
Join INHS for our upcoming Post Purchase: Wills and Estates class, part one of a four-part Post Purchase Class series that covers those important steps to take after you purchase your home: home repair, estate planning, seasonal maintenance, and more.
While 56 percent of Americans lack an up-to-date estate plan, this often-overlooked component of financial wellness ensures that you can protect your assets, provide for your loved ones, and even shape a lasting legacy. In this class, offered only once a year, an experienced local attorney will lead you through an examination of your assets and guide you on the best ways to manage them. Topics covered include powers of attorney, health care proxies, wills, distribution of assets, executors, guardians, and more.
Attend this hybrid class in-person, watch live over Zoom, or watch the recording at your convenience! You do not need to be a first-time home buyer or have taken an INHS home buyer class to take this class.
The class takes place Monday, January 30, 6:30-8 pm at the Henry St. John Building on Clinton Street in Ithaca, or live over Zoom. Price is $20/household; $10 for former INHS Home Buyer Education participants.
Register at www.ithacanhs.org/pp12023, or by calling (607) 277-4500 ext. 505 or emailing hbe@ithacanhs.org.
Don’t have time for a class right now? INHS also offers a free Guide to Preparing Your Will, available for download at www.ithacanhs.org/legacy.
