Real Estate Development Director Honored with Award for Preservation Excellence
Director of Real Estate Development Lynn Truame was honored on September 15 with Historic Ithaca’s Jospeh O. Ciaschi Award for Preservation Excellence. This award is given to a selected community member to recognize their lifelong commitment to historic preservation and their efforts to support and promote preservation in our community.
During the annual Preservation Awards event, she was presented with the award alongside an introductory speech consisting of kind words from both former and current colleagues, and recognition for her contributions.
Executive Director Johanna Anderson, who attended the event, said, “Tonight was an excellent evening honoring Lynn’s impactful career in historic preservation within Tompkins County. She has written books, advanced state and local laws, mentored new leaders, and has restored countless buildings for the benefit of new residents. She is also serving INHS with dedication, thoughtfulness, and creativity. I am incredibly proud of her work and to work alongside her every day.”
Lynn has specialized in the fields of historic preservation and affordable housing for over 30 years. Her projects have ranged from historic preservation and adaptive re-use to new construction for INHS, other non-profits, for-profits, and government sectors.
During her acceptance speech, she said of historic preservation, “I feel very fortunate to work in a community where the local government recognizes the importance of historic preservation, the preservation non-profit recognizes the importance of responsible development, and the non-profit affordable housing provider recognizes the importance of preserving and maintaining the housing we already have, while making sure the new housing we build reflects the community’s essential character.”
