Welcome Verona Village!

INHS is happy to welcome Verona Village to its rental portfolio! Joining INHS’ rental development Pine View Circle in Seneca County, Verona Village is a 46-unit senior housing development built in 1982 that includes six buildings and sits on 15 acres of land in Ovid, NY.

Verona Village has provided high quality affordable housing to the community for 37 years, and is the only affordable housing within 15 miles for low income seniors. Located about 25 miles from the City of Ithaca, and 20 miles from the City of Geneva, it is within walking distance to the Village of Ovid’s main street that includes a small grocery store, post office, library, brewery, town office, and recreation and worship opportunities.

“After many months of hard work, our efforts paid off when we closed on the purchase of Verona Village in Ovid. It is 46 units of senior housing, but what is most special about the property, are the two dedicated staff members that care for it. Donna Sherwood and Tina Carlsen have been the eyes and ears of Verona Village for many years; their dedication to the residents and the community is beyond evident,” said Johanna Anderson of the newest INHS employees.

The well-managed and maintained property is in need of energy efficiency upgrades that will lower maintenance costs and improve the quality of life of its tenants. INHS’ plan is to refinance and renovate using Low Income Housing Tax Credits, which will allow for upgrades that include new kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, accessibility improvements, heating systems, and roofs. INHS is also investigating the possibility of building an additional 12 new one-bedroom units.
