Assisted Home Performance Program

Banner

In addition to the low-interest Energy Smart™ loans for homeowners who want to weatherize their home, some people may also qualify for NYSERDA's Assisted Home Performance program. If you qualify, NYSERDA will pay half of the cost of the energy related improvements.

Qualifying improvements include:

  • insulating
  • draft sealing
  • furnace replacement
  • appliances purchase
  • asbestos removal ($2000 maximum)
  • window replacement

The maximum subsidy is $5,000 per unit. The work is conducted by certified contractors who test your house before and after to ensure that the improvements are effective and safe.

Sample Energy Smart Loan with an Assisted Home Performance Subsidy
  • A customer wants to insulate their house. The work costs $6,000. NYSERDA pays $3,000; they borrow the remaining $3,000 @ 2% for 5 years through the Energy Smart™ loan program. Their loan payments are $52/month; their estimated savings on their gas bill is $90/month*.

They are more comfortable and save $38/month!

* Savings are estimates only; your actual savings may be different.

If your home needs other repairs, you may qualify for a regular home improvement loan.
