Even routine repairs can be expensive, or require skills you don't have. The Mini Repair Program is here to assist YOU.
Don't wait! Call John at 277-4500 extension 218. He will get some basic information and tell you if he can help, and if the INHS Mini Repair can not assist you there may be other programs that can, and he will steer you in the right direction!
Call TODAY and leave your name and phone number on his voice message if he is out assisting other Ithaca seniors.
This program serves low to moderate income homeowners who are 60 years of age or older, and who live in the city limits of Ithaca.
Call John and he will make an appointment to come to your house. He will assess the repair issue and point out any other safety concerns he observes. If it falls within our small repair limits, he will make your repair.
Small plumbing repairs like dripping faucets, running toilets, or clogged drains. Also:
-
Safety devices like deadbolts or grab bars for your bathroom, and wobbly hand rail fixes
-
Energy insulation like weather stripping on your windows, wrapping your hot water heater
-
Electrical work like replacing fuses or fixing a plug or cord
Many other small repairs are ok, these are just samples. As the name implies it should be a job that one man can finish in a day or two. And you can get up to five work days per household each year if you qualify.
If you project is extensive we will do our best to connect you to the right contractor or other housing assistance program. If your repair is worrying you, you should call INHS. You may be eligible for INHS grants and loans for larger home repairs. Or for assistance from partner agencies like:
There is no charge for John's labor, but you will have to pay for the replacement parts and materials. John will let you know when he visits how much he thinks it will be.
The Mini Repair Program is funded in part by the Ithaca Urban Renewal Agency, the New York State Office for the aging, and donations to INHS.
