If I make a gift, how does that help INHS? Where does that gift money go? We hope these two simple charts will help answer these questions:
In the Expense chart below you will see how our dollars break out to program areas; for example if you made a $100 gift in 2012 we would use it this way:
$49 will go toward maintaining our 160 good quality apartments for modest income families;
$8 will go toward home buyer education or home purchase assistance;
$33 will go toward helping seniors stay in their homes or to helping home buyers or home owners make needed repairs and energy upgrades;
$10 will be directed toward future projects that will become new affordable LEED homes, or creating good quality apartments that are close to stores and services.

In the revenue chart below you will see that 30% of our income comes from grants or gifts (like yours) and 70% comes from money we can earn. Ithaca Neighborhood Housing has worked hard to increase our earned income over the last several years. This is important so that we may remain an economically stable organization for another 35 years, no matter how good or bad the economy. The Annual Campaign is what closes the gap between what we can earn through mission driven program services, and what we can expect in help from local, state, and national grant sources. In 2012 we expect that the gap to be filled by business and personal donations is at least 11% of our budgeted Revenue, or about $151,000 in gifts for 2012. Do we need you? You bet we do! So thank you for being there for our clients, you are making a difference every day.
